DODA , APR 13 (KNO) : Normal life was affected in Bhaderwah,Doda and Kishtwar towns of Chenab Valley on Friday due to a shutdown called to protest against the rape-and-murder of eight-year-old Asifa Bano and the recent civilian killings in Kashmir.

Normal life remained paralysed in Bhadarwah , Doda , Gundoh ,Kishtwar and Khara as all the shops and other businesses establishments of the Muslim community remained closed for the day. As soon as Friday prayers culminated at Jamia Masjid Bhadarwah people shouted slogans against the Jammu and Kathua Bar Association, Hindu Ekta Manch and condemned its support for the accused . “It pains us that some people in Jammu and Kathua are supporting murderers and rapists,”President Anjuman Islamia Bhaderwah Pervaiz Ahmed Sheikh said . “Is humanity dead? How can they support rapists and murderers? We want the murderers to be given exemplary punishment.

They should be hanged.” He also said the Jammu Bar Association and demonstrations were “communalisation and politicisation” of a minor’s rape and murder. They said it was “deplorable, disgusting and against all ethics”. “It has never been seen that educated people and politicians come out, waving the tricolour, in support of the rape and murder accused,” Sheikh said. It is notable to mention here that the shutdown was also called in Bhaderwah by Anjuman Islamia to observe the anniversary of 1990 Bhaderwah killings.
